‘Medizin und Menschlichkeit’ [‘Medicine and Humanity’] is the philosophical basis in which all our thinking is firmly rooted, and which has lent wings to our activities ever since 1929.

In 2009 Cesra Arzneimittel celebrated 80 years
of existence as a company.

80 years in the service of medicine, from the heart of nature – as well as 80 years in the service of humanity.

Our founding father Julius Redel was convinced of the healing power of nature, and consistently set out, from the start of his career, to develop innovative medicaments. Pharmaceuticals of plant origin are the evergreens of pharmaceutical research – with a long tradition behind them, and excellent future prospects.

At Cesra too we aim to combine tradition and the future, economy and ecology into a harmonious whole. We have always seen change as an opportunity – we have continued to improve our production technology, and constantly but carefully expanded our range of preparations, wherever it made therapeutic sense to do so. As a result we have enjoyed healthy growth, both in business terms and in expanding beyond the boundaries of our homeland. Today phytopharmaceuticals from Cesra are valued in China and in Eastern Europe, in the Baltic countries and in South America – though of course they are best known in Germany.

Now we are not only filled with pride in looking back – more importantly, we are confident as we look to the future. As a company that has stayed young at heart, we feel that we are well prepared to meet the challenges that lie before us.
