Aescuven®
Effective ingredient: dry extract of horse chestnut seed
To counter congestion in the legs

Complaints of the veins are not to be taken lightly. The forms they can assume extend from largely cosmetic problems like ‘spider veins’ to varicose veins, or even chronic venous insufficiency with all the consequences that this entails. Congestion problems in the legs are already an indication that liquid is seeping from the minute hairlike veins known as capillaries into the surrounding tissue. When water accumulates in this way the condition is referred to as an oedema, and it shows in the swelling of the legs. The tissues are no longer nourished sufficiently. If the condition becomes advanced, it can lead to ulcus cruris, an open leg ulcer.
Aescuven is a purely plant-based medicament. Its effective ingredient is an extract from the seed of the horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum). Aescuven boosts the necessary tension or tone in the debilitated vein wall, making it more elastic. This ‘vein toning’ is an important precondition for the rectification of circulatory disorders of the venous system.
Aescuven normalises the permeability of the vein wall, prevents the seepage of liquid into the surrounding tissue and so counteracts the development of an oedema. If an oedema is already present, it encourages the excretion of water and so helps to reduce the swelling. It relieves congestion problems, pains and cramps, the feeling of heaviness in the legs, and the tension and irritability of the skin.
